Melissa MacKelvie will be talking about the importance of shrubsteppe habitats in Eastern Washington, sagebrush, and current efforts to recover this unique ecosystem.

Melissa MacKelvie works for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife as a Habitat Biologist and covers Lincoln and Whitman Counties. She graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and has also has a graduate certificate in Wildlife Management from Oregon State University. Growing up in the Eastern Washington inspired her passion for shrubsteppe and arid ecosystems. In her free time, Melissa enjoys hiking, gardening, mountain biking, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
